New York City artist Jorge Colombo has been producing some really nice work lately. A series of small paintings done in and around Manhattan, Colombo captures street scenes with an approachable and organic style… all done using his phone. Apple’s App Store recently hit it’s 1 billionth downloaded app, and as tools like Steve Sprang’s Brushes find their way into the capable hands of real artists, it’s been fantastic to see the results. Using the $4.99 “Mobile Painting” app, Colombo posted up on 42nd Street for over an hour and got to work without a single interruption. “Absolutely nobody can tell I am drawing,β Mr. Colombo said. βIn fact, once I was doing the drawing at some place, and my wife was around, and they asked her why did I have to work so hard? I seemed to be always on my iPhone sending messages.β Take a look at the video below of him working on the now famous New Yorker cover and check out his site for more work from this series.
