Capturing the Innocence of Childhood and the Magic of Flight

Award winning German photographer Jan Von Holleben’s “Dreams of Flying” collection draws inspiration from classic children’s books and modern superheroes to create beautiful visual representations of childhood. Recruiting “kids from the neighborhood”, laying them down in makeshift scenes, and shooting them from above, these photos perfectly capture the improvisational nature of a child’s imagination as slippers become angel wings, trash cans serve as skyscrapers, and towels turn to capes. Some of this series is included in the slideshow below, but check out the complete work here, as there’s much more to see on Jan’s site. These photos just make me happy.

Omg, the Kong one rocks! How they don’t have an ET one is beyond me … Love the Michel Gondry DIY sensibility!
