Ben Levitz and Studio On Fire Twist Up Some Serious Hand Candy.
There’s actually not much to say here. I’m obsessed with serious letterpress, and the good folks at Studio On Fire are doing work that’s about as serious as it gets. Founder Ben Levitz and company are experts at their craft and continue to refine the beautiful relationship between design and unique production. From concept to completion, SoF builds a successful project from the bottom up, stressing the importance of material first and surface design second. The images presented here are from their new blog site Beast Pieces and I dare you to look at them without wishing you could hold each of these fantastic prints in your hand. In a world of mass production, there’s something insanely romantic about the labor of love that is the letterpress printing process. A shop capable of work this proper is indicative of a group of artists and artisans that simply love what they do and are committed to not only the product, but the process. Kudos.
